I was looking through the NBA records book (since I was reading a bio of Pistol Pete Maravich), and noticed a few:

Dominique Wilkins, at least through the '93-94 seasons, had attempted 1,138 field goals in the playoffs.

Jim Ard scored 1,138 points for his ABA career.

Mel Hutchins played 1,138 total minutes in his playoff and All-Star games.

Magic Johnson, after someone obviously told him that only attempting 1,137 FGs in the '88-89 season was weak, hoisted up 1,138 shots the next year.

In the 1976-77 season, when the opening of Star Wars took place during the playoff run then, Lucius Allen scored... 1,139 points. Oh, so close.

Yeah, and in the NFL, Jake Reed had 1,138 receiving yards in 1997.

I couldn't find the previous thread in which this occurred (back on June 7 '08, I think), and it doesn't involve 1138, but tomorrow you'll have two times to have this happen, once in the early morning, and another time after noon.

A few minutes and seconds before 1 o'clock, it will be 12:34 and 56 seconds on 7/8/09. 123456789.

I remember looking at my watch and thinking it was really cool when it was 01:23:45 7/6/89. Ah the good old days between sophomore and Junior years in High school. Nothing to do but go swimming and play basketball.

Is that the European style of putting the day before the month?

I recall doing that, too; I think it was in my Algebra II class, for some reason. :numbers: It was probably a calculator watch, and no, I did NOT use it to cheat. Not helpful with variables, and I couldn't turn off the sound of pressing the buttons.

Yesterday, while pumping a little gasoline at a station (because I wanted to have a full tank for a trip this weekend), the amount paid that auto-clicked off the pump was $11.34. I few quick pulls, and it is now entered as $11.38 on my credit card bill.

My new car hit 1138 miles yesterday morning at 6:09. I'd just gotten onto I-71 from West 130th Street. I was passing under the "Next Exit - West 150th" sign as it flipped.

My favorite local Chinese food restaurant recently raised prices on the two-entree items to $5.69. Higher prices are usually a bad thing, but when I bought one for me and one for another, the total cost pre-tax? $11.38. Sweet.

I was quite successful taking pictures at the 11:38 mark during the 2010 Rose Bowl today (check the game clock). Go Buckeyes!
