Here's the view out of one of the north windows of my office building. It's really lovely when you're working at the computer for any length of time.

Here's the backyard, minus the long-time above-ground pool, which now looks more like a paint-by-numbers for alien crop circles. Hazy mountains in the background, loranges on the lemonge trees by the wall.

I think since there's no tether and it's not from the space station, if you were seeing that, you'd be abandoned by the Space Shuttle.

What is that vehicle on the rear left?
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

Kylo Ren - came from Space Brooklyn, although he moved to Space Williamsburg before it was trendy.

The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.

That's SWAT's armored car (for when they make house calls). It was a gift from the Feds via the Government Excess Property Program started by President Clinton (we also picked up a couple of helicopters that way, too...old Hueys). To the right is our star-spangled PR van used for special events like parades and DARE events. Next to that is one of our few Jeeps we tired for patrol vehicles in our mountain and desert substations.

In the foreground are some of my unit's high-performance vehicles: one of our 3½ cylinder Ford Tauruses on the left and a Ford Expedition Sport Trac on the right (the vehicle with which we are replacing the old Tauruses bit by bit....at last a 4WD vehicle!).

Nice gift. Can you rent it for children's parties?

We have an open house every year with special attention given to Boy Scout troops (read: subliminal recruiting). They have almost full access to a lot of SWAT's toys. I guess that's the difference of being the notoriously red county in a blue state! So, it is like renting it out at kid's parties!

The Excess Property Program has saved us (and other agencies) a bunch of bucks. We've picked seemingly innocuous things like flashlights and wool blankets for our use but it helps offset expenditures for units like Search and Rescue. My unit benefited recently by scoring about 5,000 CDs with jewel cases. That saved us a few hundred bucks we can spend for other needed supplies and/or equipment.

Here's a bit of a better view of SWAT's toy for JT:
