Why is Wonder Woman still around?

    Simple question.

No one seems to like her. She can't keep a monthly title for more than a year or two at a time, tops. Then sales go into the toilet, and DC will keep publishing it anyway, and eventually cancel it only to start fresh with a new #1 a couple of months later.

Even guys like George Perez and John Byrne can't make her not suck.

The only thing she's good for is for folks to make cracks about her stupid invisible plane and lasso of truth.

So how is it that DC is offing characters right and left, and she somehow survived? How is it she's survived every shakeup there?

Yeah, the Golden Age WW stories were cool for the time, and they're historically significant in more ways than one (female lead character, female creator, etc). But she's so incredibly lame, it seems cruel to keep stringing her along.

Can't they at least totally reinvent her, a la the Justice League cartoon, to a crazed, man-hating warrior woman? The Justice League incarnation is the only truly modern version to not suck more than, say, Stegron the Dinosaur Man. Hell, she's even stupider than Aquaman--at least the orange wiener has been reinterpreted to be interesting in the past couple of decades. Wonder Woman is still the same, only they ditched the plane so now we don't even have that to laugh at anymore.

Please, Dan Didio, if you're reading this, just kill the broad off already.

No lie, I thought you called that guy Dan Dildo.

    Then I read it again.

    Anyway, Lynda Carter is hot.

Basically, she's in the union. Folks "know" her, she's a "brand", so they keep her around because it brings in eyes. Plus, she's one of the few female titles which is a claim they can shove on their mantle, and she's fun to look at to boot.

Honestly, there's not much to her, she's kinda thin character-wise compared to other heroes, they should go back to her S&M roots.
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

Kylo Ren - came from Space Brooklyn, although he moved to Space Williamsburg before it was trendy.

The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.

Lubing up the probe - it's business time.
I like JT's answer. She's a "brand" unto herself, same as Batman or Superman (sticking with DC). How many pairs of girls underoos alone do you think she's sold?

I thought he did too until I read your note about 'read it again!'

Wonder Woman isn't a total waste. I thought Ross' Spirit of Truth did a good job of making her interesting, especially how a modern WW relates to Arab women....and she was a great character in Superman Red Son. WW is like an X men, more interesting as an individual among many heroes....When the Xmen get their own character focus it usually is less look at the overkill that's sucked the mystery from Wolverine...WW is always at her best with the Justice League....otherwise I agree that as her own hero she's borring.... Somehow Batman and Supes can stand alone and be just as interesting solo as in the League.

LYNDA CARTER should be in the Justice League.....

At least she isn't the female version of the male hero. i.e. Supergirl, Batgirl, Power Girl, X23...

QLG has an excellent point about her being more compelling in a group setting.
