Caught a screening of the newest Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly debacle tonite. Can say i'm definitely glad i didn't pay for it and think they've got a lot of reworking to do on this one before it hits the big screens.

Yeah, I'm blanking on the Talladega Nights suggestion as I remember 0% of it being funny both times I watched it.
Step Brothers does look good, though.

talladega nights is to caddyshack as step brothers is to caddyshack 2.
the gross-out humor comes off very poorly. the jokes are mostly just repeated f-bombs.
the 2 funniest moments (the bunkbeds and burying the JCR) are both in the trailer.
the parents are only present in the movie to enable WF and JCR, they add nothing to the film. WF has a younger brother who has a lot of screen time, but easily could have been eliminated without it affecting the movie. each of the boys has a convoluted love interest (JCR's in particular could have been used for great comic effect) that adds nothing to the plot.
