... in filth and squalor (no shower ). I did finish all my grading that was left, plus did my lesson planning for the coming week. Read some, watched some college hoops on TV. Kept hearing jets in the sky, but could never see them (they were to be flyovers for the NASCAR race going on this afternoon), due to heavy cloud cover and strong winds. Went out for Chinese takeout as dinner. Hoped an online auction where I was the highest bidder has someone outbid my "oops" too-much amount. :fingerscrossed:

It was science fair weekend this weekend. Spent the whole day setting up, herding judges, judging some projects myself, putting out ribbons and then tearing down. We had a great turnout of middle and high schoolers entering this year. Got to catch up with the high school winner from 4 years ago. He's graduating from MIT and going on to grad school at Penn.

OK, I got back from Spring Training in Arizona (watching the Padres), did a very successful casino night fundraiser party for the Polycistic Kidney Foundation. Then I went to a party for all the kidney donors, recipients, and the doctors and staff, thrown by my transplant hospital (they all said "hello" and asked about BobaFrett), then I was the escort for my friend who's a Playboy Bunny and who's modeling withe me in pics and videos for my novel. After a premier party, I slept a little, zoomed home, grabbed my Padres' tickets for the first day you could run game "exchanges" so that I can take more friends with me on specific nights, then drove an hour to my gunfight (killed the sherriff but got shot by his woman - true!), and wound up at our Single-A team's home field for batting practice (which got rained out) so they threw us a live-band kareokee party in their premier club at the baseball park. Just got home from that, slept a half-hour, and I'm up. I drank way too much coffee.

I think I'll go to Wal-Mart and see what they stocked.

I need a new bag of disposable razors anyway.

I went to see a live broadcast of the "Mr Fix it" show at the Addison trail high school in Addison, IL. Lou Manfredini does a show on Saturday mornings on WGN newsradio, where people call up and tell them about the problems thay are having with their house, and he recommends ways to fix, or gives the names of repuatable companys that do the work. Then I came home and checked into facebook, before heading off to grab a bite to eat, then it was of to Lifesource to donate a pint of blood. Came home and took a nice 3 hour nap. Picture is of Lou Manfredini doing his broadcast.Click image for larger version.

I spent the better part of the day playing Lego Star Wars III on the Wii with my 5-year-old son. It is a really great game. We loved playing the older Lego Star Wars game together and this one seems even better. Some of the new game features are really fun.

In the game there is a timer that shows how long you have spent playing the game and what percentage you have completed (I think all the Lego games have this). Since purchasing the game on Tuesday, the 22nd, we have played for 26 hours 17 minutes. I have played quite a bit after he has gone to bed, so he hasn't played for all 26 hours, but I have spent over one full day out of the last 6 playing Lego Star Wars III...

Mowed my lawn for the first time of the year. Also put a bit of moss out on it, but didn't have enough left to do the whole lawn.

In the evening, I went to eat at a place called New York Pizza and Bar, and had a BBQ chicken wrap (I've eaten there three times and have yet to have anything pizza or pasta related). Then I went next door to the Green Frog Acoustic Tavern and watched a performance by a folk duo called Mike & Ruthy. The opening act was Robert Sarazin Blake, and afterwards all of the performed together. Then they came and sat amongst the audience (it was a pretty small venue), and played some more. They were still playing when I left, but only a handful of people remained (even Ruthy had left already) at that point. I got home at 1 AM.

I spent part of it trying to get myself to get used to this new format again...........I was down to coming here mostly for the forums but I think I will sadly fade from ssg after all these years.

The new look isn't so bad, nohagent; I had to get used to it myself. In fact, I've always preferred the "old" black background Forums, but like the non-Special Editions of the OT, we must accept that there are new versions. But now, the site's up and running well. Hope you don't decide to leave permanently; give it time.

My Saturday? Slept in until, wait for it... 6:30am?!? Did a little around-and-outside-the-house stuff (including trapping a big and strong grassghopper), dropped off some recycling (almost $6), did some banking, finished all my have-to grading, watched (and listened to on the radio) a little NCAA basketball. Helped my mom with a benefit concert, but lost a small chunk of my left hand flipping-off finger setting up a display; ow. Will try to read some more before I go to bed. Nighty night.

The local art house movie theater showed Seven Samurai tonight, so I went and watched that. I hadn't seen the movie before, nor had I been to this theater before. They are moving to a new theater this week, so this was about the last chance I had to see a movie in the old space. Long movie, about 3.5 hours, so there was an intermission. The seats were relatively comfortable though.

Was it shown as 3 1/2 Samurai, twice? I first saw it on (gasp) VHS from a rental shop, in its Foreign Language section. I watched it with a notebook and pen, noting any SW references.
