I think it's awesome how we kicked the Somali Pirates booty!

3 quick headshots and the Navy SEALS have sealed another victory and rescued the freighter captain, who by all means is a hero who saved his crew.

The captain is for sure a brave man. He even jumped into the water and tried to swim for safety, too.

Different reports say there was or does not mention if there were sharks in the water.

This whole thing went right though.

The problem is whether the US can afford another war and occupation, but an operation in Somalia could be a good move. However, we could otherwise stop shipping and purchasing from that region and therefore have no need to police it. Other countries would have to step up if they want to make the waters safe to bring US business back.

Hmmmm. What to do? It's hard to justify losing the international business in a recession, and it might look like military operations against these ill-equipped pirates could even be easy.

A lot of what's being pirated is relief and food aid going into Africa. We can't and shouldn't stop sending that. If they could task a satellite to identify all these pirate ships it wouldn't take much to just go in and sink them all.

That was like a summer action-movie ending to this whole ordeal!

I'm sure somebody is already trying to secure the movie rights.

Anyways, I think it's better to show these pirates that we're not messing around. They might threaten more violence, but we can always just send military escorts for these ships. Or blow them out of the water on sight.

You would think that these freighters would have weapons, but with all the different laws in the areas that they pass through, there is just too much bureaucracy and red tape to deal with and it would significantly slow down their delivery times.

I mean they'd be loosing more money getting boarded by the scallywags.

The freighter crews could easily hide their firearms aboard-ship.

If they were going to be boarded and searched by a legitimate government (a Naval or Coast Guard vessel flagged as belonging to an official nation), they'd know.

Not to mention, if official searches found any weapons - if they are even going to bother searching them - they could just omit that from their report, and let them sail on, armed.

I don't think the ships need illegal arms, such as freighters carrying their own concussion missiles and quad-laser cannons. Oh sorry: wrong kind of freighter. It seemed like the Millennium Alabama was what we were talking about for a minute, what with this kind of successful anti-pirate action.

No, the pirates would quickly wise up and hire all-lady raiders. Slicker would probably spend days on end on the first boat he captured, conducting "thorough investigations." The Navy would ask where he was, and someone would say, "Remember that pirate boat driven by the Puzzycat Dolls that he captured for us about a month ago? Well he hasn't come back from that one."
