Last year my stepdad dragged us out of bed at 4am to open our gifts. This year, my Mom, my aunt, and I all told him that we aren't getting up at 4am again, so what happens this year? My aunt drags us out of bed at 3am to open gifts. >_<

So, since this seems to be the thread for it, and I can't get back to sleep, here's what I got:

Nice to see the fam become part of the collecting bug. I have a cousin that shares the passion but none in the nuclear family.

Anyway as a new home owner I received the following:

I got a Fall Guy Stunt Association t-shirt, a Gundam model kit that was won by a friends father in law in a yakuza-owned Pachinko parlour, the ultimate Gundam video game (Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam), a sweet wolf hoodie, a strange biplane Transformer (Ransack I think), some liquor, a piece of totally legal MJ and a few other totally cool things that nobody would even understand, including a 2-disc set of hilariously bad space jizz

My daughter decided I wanted a Combat Heroes Destro/Cover Girl, a book about meerkats, and a Lightnin' McQueen car. On the "more useful for purposes other than playing with her" front, I got George Carlin's latest book (obviously released after his passing), a GIJoe shirt (the one from Target with several members in front of the logo), a painting set (which I really appreciate, even if I'm completely talentless with paint), and a couple of sets of pajamas (which I needed--G1 Transformers and Stewie Griffin... I was expecting TF and Superman, but, apparently, Chux Jr saw Stewie and insisted I needed the set with "the baby").

She got some Star Wars, Batman, Superman, and Queen shirts, a crapload of Disney Barbies, some doll furniture and toy kitchen appliances, The Wizard of Oz, and some Galactic Heroes (ones that had been gathering dust in my closet).

This year was less than previous, and not just due to economic concerns; most of the gift givers and receivers agreed that less materialistic stuff and more together/experiential stuff were better. That said:

Last Thursday I got an early gift. My sister and nephew stopped by since he was going to be heading off to his dad's the next day. They brought me a Darth Vader bear from Build-a-Bear.

I got a few little things from people at work, some money from mom, and some homemade jam from my sister.

For myself, I bought a Wii last weekend along with The Force Unleashed game. I then bought Wii Fit Plus on Wednesday. I should look into getting a digital camera. All I have is the one on my computer, and a cheap one I got for free when I joined Earthlink about 10 years ago.
