Would You Buy An Updated Tatooine Skiff Vehicle From ROTJ?

I am continuing my thread series.

This will discuss ONLY the vehicle in the title of the thread (in this case an Updated Tatooine Skiff Vehicle From ROTJ).

I will cover several unmade vehicles for the action figures per week, choosing them from a rotating schedule through the movies and the Expanded Universe.

I'll order it TPM, AOTC, ROTS, ANH, ESB, ROTJ, EU, and then keep going back through the order in that manner.

So here I'm only asking you if you'd buy an Updated Tatooine Skiff Vehicle From ROTJ.

The 1998 re-release of this vehicle started it out by re-using the vintage mold. This has been in play up until an Ultimate Battlepack release the other year (with an undersized Sarlaac mouth).

I'm polling for an all-new updated and definitely a little larger version of this vehicle. It should be at least 25% bigger so it can hold more figures.

I'm not sure of the passenger count on each of the two crafts in ROTJ, but let's get them all aboard.

The rest of the vehicle could be identical to the first one they produced, save for having stronger railings, more footpegs, and better-working action features (albeit the same ones as before).


So do you want the Tatooine skiff updated?

What other features would you want on it?

Why would you NOT want it?

What price range is fair, and what is predictable for this to be retailed for?

How do you think it would sell if produced?

Should they use this vehicle (employed by pirates as well, I'm sure) in Clone Wars? (the cartoon - not necessarily sell it for that toyline)? How should it be released?

No. I some how acquired 2 in the last 2 years (one in a trade the other in the UPB). Is it great? Nope. Is it adequate? Barely. I just couldn't justify another one, as well as the increased costs to make the current model bigger no matter what. So that's an EPIC NO.

Yes, definitely. I highly doubt it's going to happen, but I would buy two for sure.

The Prisoner Skiff carries 9 prisoners and guards with plenty of space in between them. So a new skiff would need to be closer to twice the size of the current one.

I would prefer no "break away" play features that screw up the integrity of the vehicle itself and a clear plastic stand to get rid of the silly landing gear from the vintage toy. If Hasbro must add play features, then they can include some snap-on rocket-firing cannons (larger versions of the blaster cannon that came with Nysad).

another hard vote for me. i have one of the new POTF skiffs and like it but would i want to see an update...absolutely. will it happen...hard to say.

if it was larger and wider, i mean I want a place to put multiple figures etc, to re-create the battle above the pit.

for now I'll say Maybe if they really redo the skiff and make it awesome.

I agree that the skiff needs to be larger. If they decide to add pegs for figures again make sure they are a better fit. Most of the pegs on there don't seem to hold up the figures very well.

I don't want a new one. I have the 2000 and 2008 releases so I'm good. It's really not too small in my eyes, at least for my diorama purposes; every figure I want to put on there, is on there. Maybe when they make all the skiff guards - which is unlikely - then they can revisit it, but until then, no.

Here's the problem with the Skiff. My answer is dependant on the Sail Barge. The one we already have is nice, but it's too small. A bigger skiff will look ridiculous next to any Jabba's sail barge we actually get (if we get one). And if we get a sail barge, the one we have should be suffice. However, if we are to never get a sail barge, I would like an updated bigger skiff.

The one I have is good enough for now. If it's ever going to be re-released, I think it needs a serious upgrade. I won't be holding my breath for this one though.

T'would be a definite purchase. The old one looks decent but its way too small.

I am very content with my current one from the UBP. Without Jabba's Barge, I have no need for a bigger one. Currently my Omega Squad are using it to escort the Stealthly clad Luke and Deena to a secret destination. I lkie the flip down side panels as they are great for my snipers to "go prone" on. Plus , with the new pack-in, I have a great nose cannon mounted in front.
