Huh, huh, huh... Um, hey Beavis. We're like back or something.

Back before Mike Judge filmed the cult classic workplace comedy 'Office Space' and hit it big with the beloved Fox animated staple 'King of the Hill,' the director rose to fame alongside two of the cultural icons of the 1990's, Beavis & Butt-Head. Well, don't look now, but it's time to break your flannel wardrobe out of storage, because it appears America's favorite idiots may be about to return.

Yes, you read that right: According to Examiner, Judge is currently hard at work fleshing out a whopping 30 new episodes of 'Beavis & Butt-Head' with the intent of bringing the MTV series back to prime time. The series, which features Judge as the voices of both title characters, would retain its "original ghetto-tech aesthetic," but feature modern music videos, which most would agree are more than ripe for some intense sardonic mockery.

Of course, there's one fairly large catch to the return of 'Beavis & Butt-Head,' which is the fact that MTV hasn't actually given the greenlight to the series. Still, while that would seem to be a major step in the process, the lack of a deal apparently isn't stopping Judge from proceeding with his reboot, meaning that should MTV pass, it's possible the series could end up on a different network or perhaps even online.

For those who may be too young or refined to remember, 'Beavis & Butt-Head' caused a national uproar during its brief but influential run from 1993-1997, with the show being accused of everything from coarsening national discourse to causing numerous copycat crimes up to and including murder. Despite -- or perhaps because of -- those controversies, the show became wildly popular, eventually spawning the big screen hit 'Beavis & Butt-Head Do America,' which raked in an impressive $63 million at the box office.

So can Judge recapture 'Beavis & Butt-Head's glory days? Or has the world passed The Great Cornholio by? Only time will tell.
Huh, huh, huh... He said hard.

Beavis and Butthead seem better left in the '90s. It's not that I disliked them or dislike them now, I just don't think they're a very good fit for today. Do they even play videos on MTV anymore? And when they do, aren't they contractually obligated for it to be some pop fluff that sounds like everything else and will be forgotten within a year? I think the last time I even looked at MTV2 most of what I saw was reality television.

    GREAT news!

I just pray Mtv passes and it lands at Comedy Central or Cartoon Network.

    Will Daria be next? :la-lalalala:

I was recently watching some old episodes, and it occurred to me that it's still one of the best "dumb funny" shows of all time. Hopefully they don't try to modernize it. Beavis texting Butt-Head just seems wrong.

As LM said above they don't show video's anymore on MTV and when they do its pop carp! Remember they wore AC/DC and Metallica t-shirts. Its a nice idea but its better left to R.I.P.

They were responsible for the dumbing down of America in the 90's and, oddly enough, I think the reboot will go over the heads of many of today's generation.

Beavis and Butthead were responsible for destroying the career of many a musician who worked hard to get noticed, get a record deal, and try to make it in music. Instead of making fun of the fashions of the time, Beavis and Butthead made their mockery personal. I have a handful of friends from the music industry who were loved one minuted and instantly shunned and broke the next.

I personally never cared for the show and I'll be happy to skip the reboot.

I don't know how to feel about this, Beavis & Butt-head were really my thing back in the day, but they faded out roughly at the right time.

Yeah, that's how I feel about B&BH, it's time was then, and may not work now, especially with videos being a dead medium (they create MTV2 for videos, then fill it with reality and other garbage, so they create more MTV networks to not play videos on).

Daria was a pretty decent show, and I hate to say it, but it'd hold up a hell of a lot better today than B&BH. But they had a full story arc for the characters, it'd be wrong to go back to that.

    Actually... that could be awesome:
Hey Butt-head, check it out, I texted you!

Uh, you dumbass, those texts cost like 3 bucks a message on the plan I just got talked into signing a 3 year contract on! And you're, like, sitting right next to me. And you misspelled 'BOOBS'!

No way! Lemme see.... I don't see the problem, fartknocker.

    Dude, it says 'BOB5', see?

Heheh yeah it does, but the letter 'B' looks like boobs.

Uhhh... oh yeah, it does! That was worth three bucks. Uh huh huh huh.

Yeah! Heh heh heh mm heh heh heh. I wasted your mom's money, now she'll have to spend another 20 minutes on the stripper pole to pay your cell bill.
    and
Hey Butt-head, Stewart told me about how, uh, 'awful' the internet is with porn everywhere! He said it's 'offensive and disgusting.'

Uh, really? Then why aren't we, like, using it?

Heh heh, that's what I said!

Well, how do we get on the internet, dude?

I think we need to use the computer box thingy!

    Huh huh, you said...

Ohhh yeah, I did! Heh heh heh mm heh. Maybe we don't need a computer after all!

Shut up, Beavis! There's naked people, like, doing it on there, and we're missing it! Now how do we turn it on?

Hey Butt-head, if it's like your mom...

    *SMACK!*

Owww! Damnit Butt-head, now I can't smell anything.

I've, like, warned you before, don't talk about my mom that way dude. She's totally a slut though. Huh huh, uh huh huh huh.

Yeah! Heh heh, sluts are cool! Oh yeah, that reminds me of what we were doing before. Now how do we plug this computer into the TV and get it into the innernet?

Dude, that's the Sesame Street Learning Laptop you stole from those kindergarteners! That's not going to go into the TV. It, like, already has its own screen. Let's see if we can get porn on it, and hurry up, I'm getting annoyed thinking about all the nudity we're missing!

Yeah, YEAH! NUDITY! DOING IT! YEAH!

Calm down, Beavis, we're not there yet.

Oh, yeah, heh heh. Wait, is that it, is that innernet porn?

    Uh, dude, that's Elmo.

    But is he doing it?

Uh, probably. But not on this screen. Why is everything in black and white?

Yeah, and why is it all blocky? And why is Oscar the Grouch talking about numbers? I hate numbers!!!

This sucks, Beavis. Stupid internet is for babies, there's no porn here, Stewart doesn't know what the hell he's talking about, as usual. Let's watch TV and hope an infomercial for ladies' sports equipment comes on soon.

Yeah, that sounds good. I need to 'strengthen my core in 3 easy minutes', heh heh heh heh heh. C'mon 'shake-weight'!
See? That stuff writes itself. And then it's over quickly so you don't have to think about how simple it is.

Yeah, who has heard of AC/DC and Metallica lately? Those has-beens. Besides, according to all the official B&BH merch I own, their shirts actually say Skull and Deth Rock.

Interesting. I actually discovered some musical acts from B&B, even those they mocked. They hated Frank Zappa, IIRC.

As for the dumbing down of America, I blame Spongebob.
    Tommy, close your eyes.

Spongebob is pretty funny and somewhat clever at times. I also found merit in Pokemon back in the day. That's not to say they're all great, but they have something going on that cheaper shows don't, like Ed Edd & Eddy.
