I don't really know what the drive of your question is.
My point is that they claim they want to "tell their story" and that they want to make the reveals and they insist that Toy Fair and Comicon are the main place to do that, but nearly every year there are these leaks that by now they should know they have to stay in front of. The Boba Fett set with Slave I should have been a big deal and instead it was "oh yeah, and we're releasing this ... as you know by now." Sometimes they'll refuse to comment on a product we already own! They know when we're going to start seeing lists come out from retailers. So why not seize the bull by the horns and say, "Here's something coming out in six months you guys have no idea about!" Not the whole line, just a couple of figures to keep the presentations really exciting. They're willing to drop stuff like that in a Q&A, why not in these presentations? They used to do that now and then. I don't know if there has ever been a year where they hadn't confirmed the first wave of basic figures for the next year by now. It half makes me wonder if they are waiting to see how vintage does because they could shut it down or scale back if these first waves don't do as hoped.

Bottom line. In two much hyped presentations there was not ONE basic figure announced that had not already been leaked. Celebration V in particular was a big opportunity to reveal the first wave (or two) of 2011 and they didn't do it since we'll likely either own the figures, have lists leaked or see pictures in ebay by the time Toy Fair rolls around.

You might not feel as though the question needs asked, but that was my point.

Stop me if I'm wrong but I am pretty sure that RS (in taking a cue from JT's Comic Con interview) interviewed Daryl at CV and pressed him hard on this issue and got him to admit that in hindsight they should have revealed at least the wave after AOTC if not the two after because they will be released before Toy Fair. Because of this he said we'll be seeing pics with the next round of Q&A answers. I'll edit this post when I can confirm this....

    Okay found it here.

"One thing I mentioned is that at Comic-Con, we are normally treated to a sneak peek at next year's line-up, but understandably, Hasbro had to hold back for Celebration V...yet we still haven't seen anything? So, be sure to check out the next Q&A session, because we should see the first wave of 2011 (the first mixed wave)...and it's a pretty good selection!"

I think they go even farther into it in the ForceCast version of the interview but as JT mentioned earlier, pod casts are a pain to search and I'm not gonna listen through the hour or so long pod cast again for this one thing but you're more than welcome if you don't believe me!

When I talked to Derryl about Slave I at Comic-Con, before it was "officially" announced, he hadn't known about the leaks on that one, that was 3 weeks before CV. As for stuff I hadn't seen, there was some newness in these:

Could they have had more basic figures? Yes. Does that mean they didn't bring anything? No. There's a sneak peek right at the end at basic figures, there's a new vehicle in there. I just don't seem to be getting what you're going for. And there are tons of rumor lists out there that turn out to be meaningless, adding noise and confusion without any substance.

They have 18 months of TVC planned and in various stages of production, I really don't think they're in wait-n-see mode.

The idea that there wasn't 1 basic figure we didn't know about and hadn't seen is hogwash from what I can tell.
Darth Vader is becoming the Mickey Mouse of Star Wars.

    "We named the dog 'Chewbacca'!"
The use of a lightsaber does not make one a Jedi, it is the ability to not use it.

There was new stuff. Stuff we didn't know about. YessirreeBob. But...

The entire AOTC wave had already been nailed down in a pretty accurate list before the shows. Going into the show they should have known we knew all of their vintage line carded figures they were going to announce and at least told us what wave one of '11 was.

My point is this, and I'm fine with not asking a question, but I want you to understand what I'm saying, even if you disagree. Since there are always rumors and leaks they should have that built in to their plans for revealing information and stay ahead of the curve. They have expressed a willingness in Q&As to say things like "in the fall of '11 you'll get Bom Vimdin." They want the shows to be the centerpiece of their information roll outs, so at least do as much in the presentation as you're wiling to do in the Q&As. I'm just saying it would be fun if at the end of each presentation if they would say "here are two figures or a wave of figures you guys don't know about that we're exacted that WE get to be the ones to tell you are coming next year".

    Hogwash indeed.

Add 9, 12, and 13 to my votes.

A new question based on the reports of people receiving their RF Boba Fetts heavily damaged in the mail:

The current Rocket-Firing Boba Fett mailaway promotion is one of the most exciting promotions for the Star Wars line in many years. It's done a lot to reenergize many collectors. Unfortunately, that sense of nostalgia and satisfaction at finally getting the figure we were all promised over 30 years ago, is being tarnished by the condition that the actual toys are arriving in. Many collectors are reporting that the cards for the figures are arriving in heavily damaged condition, because there is no packing material to protect the cards during the shipping process. In addition to the 5 UPC codes from purchased figures, we are also required to send in $6.99 for this "free" action figure. Many collectors assumed that the $6.99 was going to be used to ship the toy with reasonable protection to prevent it from becoming damaged in the mail, but this has clearly not been the case. So exactly what was that $6.99 per figure used for? And why are you allowing this highly anticipated figure to be sent through the mail in such a way that it is getting nearly destroyed in transit? If it is the figure that is supposed to matter and not the card, then why bother even producing a cardback for it at all?

That said John, I trust you pretty well with this Q&A stuff, you've paid a lot of attention over the years and have shown the wherewithal to work with the knowledge and method Hasbro best responds to, if you think you can make a question out of Cane's that fully addresses what Hasbro said so as to give proper foundation, I will add it.
Thanks for the kind words, but I doubt I'll be working out a question on this one. I think Cane already addressed the current top 12 figures, so I don't really see a reason to ask the question. We already know, more or less, what to expect in the line (or at least in a Legends-type line) so I don't know if there's much of a point anymore.
