I can see the difference when compared to the old ones. Its definitely a more accurate upgrade. I'm still waitin on my AT-AT driver helmet from Dan, but he said he'd get started on it some time soon.

Yeah, the new hoses are excellent. They can be modded to look like the screen used ones. In fact if looking closely at the screen used suit in the pic above, you can see they tied the hoses with a string to the armor, the other one is untied so it is more loose. Also if you compare my armor with Gentle Giant AT-AT Driver bust, you'll see they are very close in appearance

I can see what you mean on both counts. I never noticed the string before. I just figured that was the way the hoses laid.

They had to be pretty creative back then. There is a wider photo like the above one with an ILM guy holding the batteries for the AT-AT suit. Pretty cool

I assume that the red wire on the left leads over to the guy holding the batteries. Its nice to have the AT-AT driver and TIE pilot close together since they are very similiar.

The AT-AT Drivers were made from modified TIE Pilots, so indeed there is an evolution taking place there

I got some good news from Dan Laws yesterday. I'm #2 on the list and he's finishing up the one he's currently working on. Serg, how long did he take to finish yours?

It took some time for me too. But well worth the wait

The uber accurate Stormtrooper blaster power cylinders made by Andy (PlayfulWolfCub) on FISD 501st forum finally arrived. The details of these greeblies are simply amazing, their accuracy surpasses any other attempt in making these cool parts of an E-11. He used a real trio of capacitors, added a great accurate weathering, and even beautiful display cases and numbered COA's.

You can find out more about the long research and the work involved in making these fantastic E-11 cylinders here: E-11 Power Cylinders Research Thread - 501st First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment.

From Andy's research: "We know that these were made from some type of electronic component but, despite fans searching long and hard over the years, no-one has yet discovered exactly what they were originally used for. The most recent research suggests that they were probably taken out of British military RADAR equipment from the 1950s.

There aren’t many detailed photographs of the Cylinders on blasters for us to study. Fortunately the same electronic components were also used on the MSE droid, Luke’s landspeeder and the Y-Wing targeting computer. Studying good photographs of these props provides us with enough information to recreate the E11 Power Cylinders very accurately."

There are 2 versions I chose to be made for my Sterling E-11 (though there are all 5 versions available):

    - shape A - "Leia's Escort" used by the Stormtroopers escorting Leia on Tantive 4, this one is more weathered, and comes with a cool straggly wire
    - shape B - "Detention Block" from one of Han’s E-11 blasters in the Detention Block corridor

Now I can finally say my Sterling blaster is finished, and I could display it with any of the 2 cylinders, because they come with strong earth magnets on the back. But I intend to display my blaster with the Detention Block version, and keep the weathered one in its small display box on the shelf next to the E-11.

I'd swear if you compared yours with an original one, you wouldn't be able to the difference between the two. Its a real educational experience watching you upgrading the blaster. There is so much I never noticed until you made your uprgrades. Its really giving me the urge to try to do what you've done, but it might have to wait awhile. Thats a great prize to have in your collection!
