I don't see a lot of movies, so my list may be outdated. I too will include the SW and IJ films as one. Not really in order...

    1. Star Wars cinema
    2. Indiana Jones trilogy
    3. Airplane! duology (?)
    4. The Shawshank Redemption
    5. Mr. Holland's Opus
    6. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
    7. Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone
    8. Dead Poet's Society
    9. The Breakfast Club
    10. Cool Hand Luke

    11. Krull
    12. Stand and Deliver
    13. Field of Dreams
    14. Top Secret!
    15. History of the World, part I
    16. Shindler's List
    17. Naked Gun + 2 1/2 + 33 1/3
    18. Back to the Future (not the 2 sequels)
    19. Cannonball Run
    20. Smokey and the Bandit trilogy

Breaking the rules of list making? So?
"May the 4th be with you?" "Why yes, thank you for asking."

Man, Krull is such a great movie. It delves even further into that fantasy based genre with sci-fi overtones, very much like Star Wars. Also one of Liam Neeson's first movies.

Personally, I choose to consider the Star Wars Saga as on whole story. In fact, I usually don't consider the story as one of my favorite movies. I tend to think of (and refer to) the Star Wars Saga as a film "experience".

    My list goes like this:

#1 - Star Wars (all of 'em together)
    #2 - Braveheart
    #3 - Gladiator
    #4 - Fight Club
    #5 - Moulin Rouge
    #6 - The Princess Bride
    #7 - Saving Private Ryan
#8 - Bridge on the River Kwai
    #9 - The Matrix
    #10 - Lawrence of Arabia

My runners-up are American Beauty, Citizen Kane, 13th Warrior (highly underrated in my opinion), Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Godfather 1 & 2, The Mummy Returns, T2, Forrest Gump, Schindler's List, and Tombstone, in no particular order.

1 Empire Strikes Back (THE space epic)
2 Jaws (still can't go back in the water)
    3 Apocalyse Now
4 Star Wars: A New Hope
    5 Get Carter
    6 Aliens
    7 Terminator 2
    8 Blade Runner
    9 Citizen Kane
10 Close Encounters of the Third Kind

Runners up include: Dr Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, Alien, The Terminator, Gladiator, Leon and The Italian Job.

My top 10 goes something like this. This is just a basic idea of how the order goes, I'm still unsure.

    1. The Star Wars Saga (all six of 'em),
    2. Lord of the Rings (all three of 'em),
--OK, so not all the films are complete in LOTR and SW but I know I'm gonna like them)--
    3. Terminator 1 & 2,
    4. Rocky 1 - 4 (5 was crap),
    5. Close Encounters,
    6. Gladiator,
    7. The Matrix,
    8. Godfather part 2,
    9. Aliens,
    10.Goldfinger.
