Thread: pop up ads

    pop up ads

i can't stand these things. this site isn't that bad, but i have noticed on some sites, they regenerate about every minute. i've been noticing a lot more of theses lately.

is it possible that my ISP is behind this, or are the sites i visit on a regular basis now getting in the pop up ad business? it seems a lot worse than it used to be.

There's not much you can do about this other than increasing your Internet security.

    Popup ads suck.

so far, the applications I've tried that prevent pop-ups have all had terrible memory leaks, to the point where Windows (ME, in my case) runs down to insufficient available memory in a day or two, if you leave the no-pop-up app running.

We should organise an "Anti Pop Up Association", and we can advertise it with pop up windows !

Yes pop-ups seem to be getting worse through time. I remember when I 1st got the internet about 6 years ago pop-ups were nowhere, now about half the sites I visit have pop-ups. Very aggrevating. Especially the ones that pop up so big you cannot X them out.

I hate it when porn/lingerie popups suddenly appear just as my dad enters the room. He thinks I'm looking at porn, even though I'm not...and then I get grounded...

I hate them too. Apparantly as sites get more desperte for ad money, POP UP Ads are the only people paying right now, causing us to suffer.

Analog X has a program called POW that lets you add POP UP ADS to it, andonce that ad pops up, and you add it to the lis, it will close it for you automatically if it ever come up again.
